Hello! Hopefully you might find this housing thread useful! People are often sold the wrong bulbs and set ups so I’d definitely use this to double check everything! You’d be surprised how common it is! This thread covers correct equipment(uvb, heating bulbs, lighting etc), correct levels, importance of a closed chamber for younger tortoises(only way to maintain the humidity you need), appropriately maintaining the humidity, safe substrates, there’s lots of visual examples for everything and a really handy diet link to check out! Under the wildflower section you might find some indoor plants that will work in your enclosure, just bear in mind store bought plants need a 6-12month quarantine period. If going with a greenhouse, the lower the ceiling height, whilst still allowing for recommended bulb height, the better! But I’ll include more closed chambers below

This includes some different closed chamber options, some work better than others

Lastly this one is really good to go over and have on hand! it’ll help you avoid the wrong bulbs, substrates, housing etc, I always encourage double checking purchases on the forum too before buying😊

Hope this all helps! Please feel free to ask any further questions! Welcome to the forum🐢💚

Perhaps, the easiest plant for the enclosures is the spider plant. Get an established plant from a store, repot it in a clean organic soil and then you can add freshly grown plantlets to the tortoise enclosure. Better to use small pots and not to plant directly in substrate - this will protect plants a bit.

Also, you can try growing chia seeds (you can buy them in grocery stores). Soak them for 1-2 hours in water and sow. In a couple of days you'll get a lot of sprouts.

I have grown water cress similarly, but you have to note that it is part of the brassicacae family (contains goitrogens).
