So, I just got my coil style uvb swapped for a solar glo mvb and my red lamps swapped for che 36 hours ago (may or may not be related) and this morning my Finn is eating his moss... How much do I need to worry?
I use sphagnum moss in my hides because then I don't need to worry about it if it gets consumed.
I'd watch to make sure your little one continues to eat the proper amounts of real food.
I have read that the longer strands can be of concern. I would either cut them or use coconut coir. When my leopard was first purchased a few years ago as a hatchling, he too would eat the moss. A couple times I had to pull them out his butt, I stopped using it at that time and only use the coconut coir since.
The long strands can definitely be of concern as linear foreign bodies, so I'll cut up my Sphagnum and watch him, but his appetite is still huge. Eating about 1-2 cups of loose 'salad' and such every day. I knew he would be this way, but it never fails to blow my mind how much he can put away.
