Extra Shell????

when I was shopping for my Hermann's online, I saw a store, forget which one, selling the tortoise with an extra shell, what is the purpose of this?

definatly said extra shell, the same place also had some with extra scutes. i think the place was was turtle sourse.

BTW what does it mean if they have extra scutes? mine has 5 on each side.

An extra scute or split scutes are just a cosmetic thing, does not have anything to do with the health of the animal.

They will just have more then are suppose to. Or, a scute will be split into to odd shaped scutes. Means nothing as far as heath.
