My tortoise's eye is all swollen and blinking and foaming a bit. Also he keeps on rubbing his eye and when I soak him he submerges his face. Is it anything serious or is he okay? Here's a picture of his eye.ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1399934486.789665.jpg

What type of substrate do you have in his enclosure? I apologize but I can not clearly see his eye in the pic, kinda dark....you can always use a squeeze bottle (small one of course) and gently flush the eye with tepid temp water, you can do this a couple times a day for a bit to see how he does....also, what part of the world are you in? What is the humidity like there, in his enclosure?

One eye closed and swollen, is an irritant of some kind, flush the eye.

Never mind it turns out skin grew over his eye and it fell off, he looks way better now!

Skin doesn't grow over their eyes and then fall off. You have some sort of problem. Want to figure it out and solve it?

What are you using for substrate? Any sand?

What are you using for UV? Coil type cfl bulb?

I use reptile bark and I have a UVA and UVB light that's always on.
