Some big controversy here. Before i get my RT what should I feed him? I know you cant feed collard greens or fruits often. But my main question really comes down to this... can you feed them organic mixed salads? The type from the bag. And I dint know much on veggies and leaves. I can substitute grass. But i dont know where to get stuff like timothy hay could you tell me? Im in southern pennsylvania.

Kimber's right. In the summer, you can pick weeds, especially those you grow yourself (you will be a weed gardener  )
You can get a variety of seeds from Carolina Pet Supply, look for the Russian tortoise mix. Free shipping right now.
They also sell individual seeds.
Meanwhile, in the colder months, yes, you can use the bagged Spring or Herbal mix as a base. Then, get one other fresh green from the list until it runs out, then switch to a different one from the list. (you can use the greens too if you want!). All of these greens are OK in moderation.

Romaine lettuce
Red and green leaf lettuce (redder is better)
Endive
Escarole
Radicchio
Chicory
Turnip greens (really good, hard to find)
Mustard greens
Kale
Collards
Etc.
