Hi, I recently became owner of a 6month old Hermann's named Ranger, the pet store I purchased him from were only feeding him the tortoise food pellets. I'm trying to ween him off this and onto a more natural diet, but he seems very hesitant about eating anything other than the pellets. Is there anything I can do to entice him to eat other things?

Thank you in advance

Mix pellets into his new food. Chop the new stuff up until he gets the idea. Start with a small proportion of the new stuff and gradually increase as he accepts it. That's the standard advice.

Most of the colorful pellets have sugar in them. I agree, wet some and mash them up and add greens until what you have it mostly greens. maybe over a period of a few weeks then toss the pellets in the garbage. (If they are indeed the colorful ones.) If they are tan in color, Mazuri, just feed less of it and continue.
