First time brumating

This is the first time my desert torts have brumated. The weather has been cold one day and warm the next. Should I check in them to see if they are awake? They’ve been secured since the end of November. They are 3 years old. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

Where are they? The weather outside should be irrelevant if they are in temperature controlled hibernacula. If they are outdoors in a shallow burrow in your back yard, as is typical, that is very dangerous. Many die that way. The info found online for desert tortoise care is abhorrent. The thread that SinLA left will help with the brumation questions, and this one will help in general:
