We made our annual camping trip to Key Largo this Thansgiving week and flash came along. We brought most of his provisions from home to make him feel comfortable. We had a nice sandy beach area we took him too and ne really enjoyed the sand and water a little.

In case it was sunny out!

Here is a youtube link of him running in the sand. He was in a hurry to go somewhere. Maybe back to the camp site. Who knows.

Very cool! Great shots! The video looks like he's seeking shelter from the sun!

Cool pix, but are you sure it's a good idea to take your tortoise to the beach? Don't you think he might overheat in the sun or the hot sand? Also, being an inland turtle, might not walking in the salty water of the surf be bad for him? And wouldn't he prefer to remain in his own, familiar home territory?

BTW - Did anybody ask you if your sulcata was an endangered Florida gopher tortoise?

Thanks for concern. He was only out for 15-20 min that day. There are no waves at this beach and I don't think he ever got into the water. He also had a nice soak when he came in. It was only in the low 70's that weekend.
