Hi guys,

just hoping for some advice. My horse field currently has top soil for his substrate, but we’ve got a serious issue with tiny fungus gnats, so I was wondering if anyone knows of any other substrate we can use to avoid this problem! Also he seems a bit bored, is there anything I can do to make his life a little more
Fun?? Thanks!

All the substrates get them. The best I have found to help push them off from appearing is baking the substrate before using. 200-250 for about 3 hours. It keeps them from appearing for approx a year give or take. Be sure to spot clean daily.
Some people put the Roly Poly type bugs in their enclosure and they will help. I never wanted them in my house so I did the baking.
You can also boil it if you don't want to bake it.
Freezing doesn't work good.
