Well Shane ... I have seen some others from the same parents ( different litter) ... .. and about 4 years older.... they still have the light color at around 8"
The new growth seems to be darker ..and like most older torts will darken with age iam sure .. what makes it exciting is to see just " how much" .. . The two I have are lil over 2.5 years and around 4.5" SCL. and still have ultra light coloring.
yea .... the new growth does tend to be black .. Although the " almond" coloring in these " genes" so far have stayed pretty golden even with the new growth coming in and yes darker .I have had these since 2" and about year ago .
Why I take lots of pictures..... ( and its fun too share too! )
Just as interesting is the " varigated" .. RF I have,.its a recent aquire this summer so I never saw it as a hatchling .. but it too .. has some wild coloring nothing like I have ever seen on a RF. I wonder what it looked like as a hatchling . One reason why I love RF's ... so much diversity and color ...
and "COLORS MAKE THE WORLD SMILE "
well ...thats my motto ~
JD~
Very Nice Shane ....Looks like ya got a great looking lil 'RF there!
You will find they will darken with maturity ...but what extent who knows?
With more folks breeding Rf's and cherries ...there are more "extreme " color combo's showing up all the time .... it will be nice years from now to see how they "color up" ...
