The last time I posted, Karloff hadn't eaten in a few weeks and was extremely inactive. After taking him to the vet and determining that because of this unseasonably cold weather in Florida, he was probably attempting to hibernate, I did what the vet suggested and just left him alone. I turned his lights on and off at the appropriate times, offered him food daily, but stopped trying to unbury him from his substrate and just let him be. After about a week of not seeing him at all, when the weather warmed up - thus the house warmed - he suddenly emerged from the dirt and ate everything in his enclosure.
After that, and for the past two weeks now, he's been eating daily and gaining weight almost on a weekly basis - his shell is showing a lot of new growth, too. In fact, if I'm late to putting his food out, he's sitting on top of the plate it normally gets served on and looks around expectantly.
Even though the weather has turned cold again, he's still out and eating and active every single day. When the weather warms up permanently, I have plans to change the garden in front of my house into an outdoor turtle pen, and will post pictures of that and ask for advice in the coming weeks.
Thanks for all the advice, attached is a pic of Karloff vociferously chowing down on green baby leaf lettuce and spring mix.
