Our Sulcata males also like timothy hay, our vet suggested timothy hay supplement as these guys eat the grass now faster than it can grow in!

Sulucta really likes grass

For little babies, I like to chop the grass into tiny little pieces. When I don't, I get long strands coming out the other end and I worry that it could be a problem. Not necessary at all for larger sulcatas.

Large adults can handle timothy, but I still prefer orchard grass hay or bermuda grass hay. Timothy is too stemmy and I've seen it cause problems for littler tortoises trying to eat it.

I grow bermuda in my yard. It holds up really well. They keep it grazed down enough that I mow only about 3 times a year. I'm actually getting ready to mow it now. It hasnt been mowed since November.
