Update - with another month's data, I feel a bit better. Seems like periods of slower growth are probably within normal, especially when husbandry, behavior, activity all remain constant.

'Orange large' hit the 100 gram mark this month and based on tail size I'm fairly certain I have at least 1 female in the group, which is a relief, as I know the breeder I bought from tends to produce male heavy. The others are still too small to know at the moment. "purple large' is getting close but not quite there yet for sexing. Another 3 months and I should have a fair guess on most of the group.

Do you know at around what age 'orange large' hit the 100g mark? I'm uploading my most recent growth chart & curve. I acquired two new hatchlings that are only a few months old but are growing like crazy... one of them out-sized one of my year-old juveniles already. Not sure if I should chalk up such vastly different growth rates to genetics or not... husbandry has been all the same for them.

I acquired the group at the same time, but orange large was roughly 1 month older than the rest. She hit the 100 gram mark at roughly 1 year, 2 months.

I need to add an update to the growth chart, but things are starting to cool down again in the tortoise room. Growth rates are slowing down into the 3-6% range again.

I'm glad I found this thread. I weigh my group every Monday. And I'll update the weight gain here too, hopefully every two or three months. The more data shared, the more we learn :)

So basically I have 6 Egyptians and they were all born this year in 2021, from different clutches. Some have pyramids already when they were with the breeder, as you can see from the last photo below. I don't mind it that much but will do my best to stop pyramiding under my care.

You can see growth slows down in some weeks, which is normal if they are eating normally.
