Are these growth lines on my yellow foot (the dark lines on his back end)? I've only had him 8 months and this is my first time seeing the dark lines around the scutes. 20160420_093323.jpg

That area on the rear that is just two scutes looks like some sort of partially healed shell injury to me.
It's not the whole shell and there look to be cracks in the front edge of it.
He may be no worse for it, either way, but growth lines are generally uniform and seen around every scute.
Could someone have stepped on him?

Zero - if you look at some of her other posts he's got a crazy saddleback shape from his previous situation so I bet that's what you see.

Yep, he came like that. He's got the dark lines all over, you just can't see them in the pic. I'm assuming their just growth lines, but lookong through the forum it looks like they're usually lighter in color, so I just wanted to make sure. First tort, first time seeing growth lines!

My redfoots generally seem to have dark growth lines.

I don't own any YFs, I know that generally dark growth lines on RFs are normal, white growth lines are dry, and raised/puffy growth lines mean you have a little piggy :D
