Hello!
I am still in the research phase, but looking into getting a Cherry Head Redfoot tortoise. I saw several different housing size recommendations the range seemed to be around 6’ x 6’ and down to 6’ x 3’. I understand probably the larger the pen the better, but I was just wondering if there is any recommendations for habitats out there, or is it better to build? Will try to keep outside during summer, but just looking for an option during the winter time when it gets too cold.
thank you!

The best suited enclosure for a Redfoot is a '"closed chamber" type.
An enclosure with a mostly closed top.
And as large as possible is what you want. So you don't have to buy or make another one every 4 months.
For an adult, an 8x8 would be small.
I understand that making a closed chamber that large is difficult.
Many members use greenhouses.
Some use plastic totes.
Others design and build their own to match their homes interiors.
If you have a tiny baby, you have many options for a while. And have time to figure out what and when to do in the future.
