I just purchased a SA leopard tortoise hatchling from Ben Awes. The two SA leopards I bought from Tom 3 years ago have outgrown their tort table, so I cleaned it all out, sanitized it and set it up for my new little baby. The table is 4'x1.5' and I think the sides are 10" but may be a foot tall. It is mounted on a wall of the leopard tortoise shed:

I use seedling tray heat mats under the humid hide:

I put the mat on the bare bottom of the table and all substrate over the top of it:

Down at the left end is a nice, big lid for water:

And at the other end, positioned over the heat mat, is the humid hide. The heat percolates up through the orchid bark and keeps the moist air nice and warm:

I like to raise babies in two's or groups, and I'm not sure if having one baby all by it's lonesome is going to work. We'll see.

Beautiful S.A. Leopard Yvonne! I'm sure your GPP, will do fine as a "lone wolf" :) keep us update on how this one grows! Have you weighed this beauty in?

Thanks. I may have to cover or partially cover it in order to keep it humid in there. Hopefully the humid hide will do its job. I raised two other hatchlings in this same set-up starting in October also, and didn't have any trouble keeping them growing smoothly. So it should work out ok for this baby too.

No, I haven't weighed him, but I made a tracing around the edge of him on a piece of paper. My scale is used to weighing bigger bodies, and even at a half a pound, it doesn't round up to 1lbs. Has to be over 5lbs before it registers. (I'm too cheap to invest in something that weighs smaller items)
