I just bought him yesterday, the pet store did not know how old he was or even his gender. If you guys could help me decipher the pyramiding or design on his shell that would be great. He is a red foot toroise and about 6 inches from head to tail. He likes to burrow in the cypress chips that I have him in, and his habitat has a 90° side and a 70° side. He burrows on the 90°. He hasn't found the water himself yet but I have put him in it a couple of times and he has drank the water like it is something he hasn't had in a while. If you would like to know anything else to help me, let me know! THANKS!

Very pretty red foot you have. You will have to wait till it gets bigger to
decide if it is a male or female. His shell looks good to me. One of the most
important matters will be to keep the humidity high in his enclosure, I keep
my temperature around 80 degrees in there hide and think 90 might be to
high, 90 would be better under his basking area where he will have the option
of moving away from that temp if he feels like it.

The temp is at 90 on one side and 70 on the other. He likes to burrow in the moist chips on the hot side. His humidity is at 40% but should be higher. Thanks for you help!

your profile says you're in FL, hope you have room and plans for an outdoor enclosure. I have to say that FL is outdoor redfoot wonderland.
