Heat Lamp Height

I am in the middle of building a enclosure for a Russian Tortoise (That I have not gotten yet) and I was wondering how high the heat lamp should be above the basking spot. I have already searched the forums and have found nothing regarding this subject. Thanks for your time and help

Only your thermometer can answer this question. It depends on the wattage of your bulb, ambient temps, type of fixture, etc...
