Hi! My name is Eva and I live in Cincinnati, Ohio. A little over a week ago, I stopped at a yard sale on my way back from vacation up north on Lake Erie. Among the usual hats, shoes, dishes and miscellaneous items, there was a little tortoise in an aquarium for sale for $50. The lady selling him was a teacher who had had him in her classroom for several years. I was quite enchanted by him and with little hesitation ended up purchasing him for $35. Upon getting him home, it took me a very short time to suspect and confirm that this aquarium was not good housing for a tortoise. So over the last week I have thrown my energy into creating a better place for him. It has been a fun and rewarding (and confusing) process. I have found a lot of help by reading the articles and discussions on this forum. I moved Otis into his new home yesterday, and he seems to like it, a lot. I am thrilled to see so many people who are passionate about raising tortoises. My friends and family are mildly interested in this project, but they don't really get my excitement and enthusiasm.
