hello need help

Hello i found this little guy wondering around outside my house and was wondering if any one can tell me what kind he is so i can properly take care of him. None of the neighbors are claiming him

Hi and welcome to the forum...could you take a couple of pictures that aren't blurry? I'm betting Danny will know what they are blurry or not...Eastern box turtle?

It's a box turtle It is either an Eastern or Three-toed box turtle. If you count the nails on his/her back feet, 3 for a Three-toed and 4 for an Eastern. You'll know for sure which one. Also a plastron shot would have helped.

Box turtles aren't native to California D Maggie), so it has to be an escaped or released pet.
