I had peat moss in it and just switched to coco coir since it's less messy but it isn't heating up to the right temperature, does anyone know why this would be??

Platinum Tortoise Club Joined Jan 9, 2010 Messages 68,452 Location (City and/or State) Southern California Adjust the bulb height, use a higher wattage bulb, close in more of the top to prevent the heat from escaping, etc… Your substrate shouldn't have much to do with this. If the coir is more damp than your old substrate, you might be getting some evaporative cooling.
