Hi everyone,
A question for you'll, whenever I feed my Radiated's salad mix, their poop comes out very wet, soft and not like it usually does with Mazuri pellets which is hard and easy to pick up. Also their behavior has changed ever since they have been passing out wet poop(close to diarrhea), they wander around a lot more rather than sleep. The feeling I get is their very uncomfortable. They have been passing a lot of wet mushy poop and their weight has dropped from 800 to 700 grams in just 2-3 days after eating salad mix. I took their poop to the vet to have it tested and all is fine.
This is not the first time this is happening, I'll just stick with Mazuri/hibiscus next time. Usually I give them salad mix once a month. Am I the only one here facing this problem?

What happens if you instead of feeding it just one day, mix it in with some of the mazuri and spread it out for several days? With some animals, sudden changes in diet can cause diarrhea. The mazuri is drier and then you give Spring mix with a higher water content among other major differences. I can see where it might cause issues in some. Just a thought. :tort:

In a way, what your doing is acting like your giving them a laxative and cleaning out their system... which is why the weight drop happens in my opinion.

This only happens to one of mine when I feed cactus. I have never noticed a weight change though. Maybe instead of a mix you should add one type of lettuce at different feedings to figure out which kind is causing the runny poop.

Thanks for your replies. What I'll do is mix it with the Mazuri more often in smaller amounts when I do.

See, I would bet that the difference is the fiber content. Most salad mixes are high in moisture, low in calcium, and low in fiber. I would add in some hay, a small dash of calcium powder, or some things like mulberry or grape leaves.
