Tomorrow we are going shopping for the bookshelf, also I'm gonna grab some shower liner and some nice fake plants at the dollar store to help make it prettier, I'm so excited! Mimi, I would do that, but my father lives thousands of miles away, and my grandfather in the hospital, so the bookshelf is my best bet : )

I got the bookshelf! Since I have to assemble myself, I don't have to worry about taking out the shelves, and it doesn't seem too hard to put it together. I'll post pictures of the finished product tomorrow, and I didn't have to go to goodwill, they have cheap and nice and big bookshleves at Walmart. I'm so excited!

Thanks Wellington, the whole bookcase was really cheap, only $20 dollars on rollback. I'm going to assemble it tomorrow and my other neighbor has a tortoise also, to my surprise and is going to give me some fake plants to decorate it with : ) I can't wait!

ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1405546397.684381.jpgits very bare right now, and his lettuce is everywhere because he dragged it all around, but I took me an hour to create and I love it, once my room is lighter and his cage is full of things, I'll take another photo,

Remember to add a terra cotta pot (upside down makes a great hide), terra cotta saucer (makes a great water dish, plants (food and hiding), stone slab (perfect basking spot), and some decoration :D! Good luck, so excited!

I got him a couple of hides (they are hiding in the photo) Ooo I can't wait to get my plants, I'm gonna make this look really pretty. He's been kinda cautious going around, usually staying near his basking lamp, is this normal?

Really it is, when I changes my enclosure he basked for some time, it actually healthy (helps in digestion & D3 absorption If it's UVB)... Don't worry :D

Great solution! They are great climbers & escape artists, so watch it, you may have to raise the sides. You wouldn't want him to climb out & fall.

I had and still have the same exact problem. My tank is only 3'x1' and my mom thinks its fine, but obviously its not. Especially because with my water dish and the hide he only has about 1 sq ft to move around, but even that area has a food dish and a ramp, cuz my RF insists on climbing on top of his log so he needed a ramp. But anyways, luckily, my bday is on the 30th and I've finally convinced her that a bigger tank IS necessary. My trick was to keep being extremely annoying and nag her constantly. However my mom seems to be a lot like yours because she won't let me do a MUCH cheeper , but still equally effective, plastic bin because it was "dangerous" and other frankly stupid excuses. But luckily we live near a petland, which gets products directly from the big companies like zilla and zoomed and they have an xl zilla (i think) tank thats 4'x2' and even though it costs $200 she would rather get that than a like $50 bin that be just the same. So i know exactly how you feel but just keep trying and hopefully you'll win.
