I have a 5 year old female Hermann’s tortoise, which I took on in July. She lives on soil substrate and is bathed 2-3 times a week but she also likes to climb in and out of her water bowl throughout the day ( I change it every time she does this).
Today when I was bathing her I noticed something strange about her scutes, the bottoms of her rear scutes were translucent (see image). The scutes are hard and there’s no difference in texture between the patterned and the translucent section.
She’s eating fine and the scutes don’t appear painful when I touch them.
Does anyone have any idea? Is she just shedding or is this shell rot? The rest of her shell is fine and she is well in herself.

That's fine. It's quite normal.
