RE: Help

Hi and welcome to the world of tortoises! I am not seeing anything really wrong with Cheryl in your pictures. It might be the lights bothering her or even coir dust in the eye. The two things that did jump out at me were the waterdish and the lights. The waterdish looks like it would be too small and shallow for her to get into it and have a good soak. I would recommend if that is a problem, to go with a terra cotta type plant water saucer. They come in many sizes, help nail wear and best of all are fairly cheap to buy.

Next concern are those lights. It really scares me when I see somebody holding them on just using those clamps. The clamps often fail allowing the light to fall down. Then you have a chance of burns and/or fires.

I could be wrong. But it looks like you are using coil bulbs. These are bad for thier eyes. Im no expert though. I am sure someone else will have better imput! Your setup looks pretty good though.

I do notice your torts eyes are watery..i do notice you are using the coil type bulbs..the squiggly type. Those are not good for torts eyes. They are known to cause blindness. I would not use them. This could be the reason for the watering of the eyes...
