Am I crazy or did no one tell you what KIND of tortoise you have?
I see everyone helping you care for him but did they tell you the species of tortoise?
If I am right (and I would hate to be the bearer Bad news buuuuttt…..)
You have a Sulcata Tortoise my friend.
They are
THE THIRD LARGEST TORTOISE IN THE WORLD!!! 😱😱😱😱
I know cuz I have one!
Enjoy his youth because they grow big kinda fast.
Poop even BIGGER and will eventually show you that HE is boss. You just pay the bills. 🤣
That being said,
I am sooo excited for you and glad you came to the only place where you will get all the RIGHT help and support you need.
We also pass around the wine from time to time.. and a doobie ain’t out of the question neither!! 🤭

Bless the little fella, that looks such a random accident, the way the slate is doesn't look a hazard to me, but as he has flipped, I’m wondering if it’d be worth sitting the slate a bit more flush with the substrate in this case? I’m thinking maybe the lip of it, if that makes sense? Is what he toppled off

I think wellington established that somewhere on the first page. But @Chefdenoel10 is correct, you always have to have a plan for your next enclosure, since sulcatas grow crazy fast.

You are correct my dear friend.
Wellington DID mention in passing that it was a Sulcata.
But this girl needed to know that
“It’s the third largest in the world”
in a very BIG way.
I got mine way back when and the guy told me it was gonna only get to be 1’ x 1’ !!!!
Said it was some kind of (and I can never remember the name) Kla… tortoise!
It’s didn’t even look ANYTHING like that tortoise in the picture!! I did research and stumbled upon a picture of a Sulcata and my mind just …. 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯.
Wow. I was in for some real reality check.
Now, 26 years later… I find myself blessed with such a wonderful and beautiful creature. I can’t believe she’s mine!
God made torts so prehistorically stunning that I find myself staring at her when she sleeps sometimes.
Then she wakes up.. steps on my bare toes and pushes me out of the way
(whilst screaming in pain) and proceeds to do a very large “boomer” on my kitchen floor as she struts her way out side..
That big 🤬!
But I love her just the same. 🥴🫠 🤷‍♀️
