Our tortoise is 6 years old and only just started living outdoors full time since her last home was with other people who kept her in a small tank. She is very happy outside grazing and burrowing in sand. However. It rains heavily here at times and my husband (the primary owner of Sam) put her in the garage to keep her dry. She became very stressed there. This leads me to believe an indoor structure for her during cold months may not be the best idea. Especially since she is getting very big and difficult to carry around. I was wondering what I should do about this. My husband's idea is to build a large tortoise table and put it in the house somewhere. I'm thinking more like an outdoor shed full of heat lamps. But I really don't know as this is our first tortoise. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, we live in SC so winters aren't terribly harsh but still can get below freezing at night.
