lots of work as usual on the property.
This enclosure will house, semi aquatic and some smaller full aquatic until they're larger ponds can be constructed. But not all that bad.

Had to clear the area first of course
    image.jpeg

    Then lay out the posts
    image.jpeg

Then screw in some boards for the walls.
    image.jpeg

    Then dig the ponds.
    image.jpeg

    Then shade clothe it.
    image.jpeg

The finish the walls inside and install liners for the ponds. Nice little tropical rain storm filled em up nicely.
    image.jpeg
    image.jpeg

Add some plants and mulch. Almost done.
    image.jpeg

Then secure the outide with welded wire and reinforce the wall boards with vertical members screwed together and of course a steel welded wire door for additional security.

    image.jpeg

Some zaz on the ponds with some plants, logs and stuff like that. And boom. They love it.

Still some detail work i need to do. Like trim out the pond liner to wall transition. But time is always never to spare when I make it down yonder.

That waterfall-esque contraption. Is that hooked up to a filter? Or is it just a pump?

It looks awesome by the way! And I'm sure your turtles love you for it!

Very nice! What kind of water filters are those? They look like they have ALOT of volume.

Those are just 560 gallon per hour waterfall pumps. One pond that has the reeves in it is 800 GPH with filter boxes around them. The actual filtration aside from the plants and new water added has yet to be installed.

Not yet. This Friday I have a 20'x60' metal frame being installed. This method works but I feel it's not going to last long enough. So sadly although I just built it. More than likely it will be redone in a year or so. The more permanent enclosures very similar to these will have a swimming pool style of filtration on them in addition to the waterfall pumps.

You're getting quite a bit accomplished in such a short time. Or is time passing more quickly in my mind?

I can tell it's been a lot of work, but you make it sound and look so easy. It's looking good. Hard doing that stuff when you already have the residents waiting.

Time flies for sure. It's non-stop literally when I walk off the plane to boarding the plane going back. I've pretty much given up on any sort of life. Haha. All work. But it's quite rewarding.

    Well
Friday a bigger version of this will be installed. So just be patient and it will get better and better. Really really hoping to be open to the public this summer-fall. Lots and lots of work to do though for that to happen. So far the south Texas palm society has visited and wants to hold a annual flora conference with our facility as the host. Which is fantastic. Met the 3 head honchos Saturday when they were visiting Brownsville. Working and trying to get some sort of turtle conference going on padre island too. Lots in the books for sure.

Vacuum hose water changes every week and compete water change every 60 days. It's a beating. But had to be done.

Thanks! I imagine that's a heck of a lot of work...

So you have a pump and just pump it all out the front door to the enclosure? Just drain the water into the bushes?

Yep. I have all sorts of pipes run into the garden. So when I water change and my workers do water bowl changes we use the dirty (organic of course) water for the chile Pequine, chile Arbol, (spicy tiny peppers) jalapeƱos, bell peppers, and the squashes. The weeds/tortoise seed mix don't require much water.
