Herman Nails cut and saw blood

I trimmed his nails and was really careful to not cut too Much but even so saw blood drop from two nails about a minute after :(
I was so heartbroken and felt really bad to have hurt him
He wobbled around for a bit and I think he was hurting but after that seemed ok
Won’t be doing that again but is there any advice for looking after his nail area to ensure he isn’t in pain please

You could use cornstarch to stop the bleeding, but just keep the enclosure clean and he should be fine.

There is normally no reason to cut a tortoise's nails. If they are over growing it can be an indicator of one of several problems.
