Hey everyone. New member here, just wanted to say hi and introduce me and my tortoise.
My name is David, and I live on the seacoast area of New Hampshire in the USA. My tortoise is a Sulcata named Archimedes. I'm not sure of Archimedes' exact birthdate, but he was a hatchling when I got him, and it will have been three years since I brought him home on October 15th.
The day I brought him home:
And a few weeks ago:
I'm not sure how much he weighs, but his shell is at least ten inches long now. He's been going through a growth spurt the last year. I had a tortoise table made for him based off his size at the time, but he actually grew a bit on the months I was waiting for the table (a friend built it as a favor).
I also recently confirmed that he indeed a male as he has been flashing his thing in recent weeks... I can't unsee it. It's like something out of an ALIENS movie.
Archimedes is my first tortoise, but I also have an East African Side-necked turtle named Turt that I've had since I was a little kid. I've had him for at least 25 years.
It's nice to meet everyone and I hope we can learn from each other and share in our enjoyment of tortoises!
