Hi my name is Emily. I work at a pet store and someone brought in a "turtle" they found by a creek. I knew it wasn't a native to Oklahoma and had an inkling what it was. They were just going to put it by the creek again so I told them I would take it. It is an African spurred tortoise. Its a female and her name is now Sassafras(my 3yr old named her) we already have a Red eared Slider named Oscar. Also we have 3 cats and 2 dogs. 2 kids a husband and me. I have my very own zoo. Well Sassafras was unexpected and I am waiting to see if our actual zoo would like to add her to their reptiles. In the mean time I want to give her the best care I can. I haven't seen any poop yet but have her on Timothy hay and she has a box to hide in and water available(shallow dish she can climb out of) and a heat lamp. She really isn't eating any greens I give her though. She is walking around a bit now. She did just stay huddled in the corner. I have her in a baby caged pen so 8ft by 4ft incloser in my garage. She is about 8-10 in big. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.\!!!
