im Pauline the owner of a Leopard Tortoise, Squirt , who seems to have his head stuck, just wondered if this is something that happens or does he need the vet ? Any help much appreciated.
This is a frequent occurrence with leopard tortoises. I don't know why this particular species, but for some reason they get their head stuck inside and can't get it out. It may mean he needs his beak trimmed. At any rate, I doubt you can take care of it on your own. Best to see either a wild life rehabber with tortoise experience, or a tortoise vet.
It is important to get this taken care of as soon as you can because the tortoise will have trouble breathing if it can't move its head and legs in and out.
