How long should my three year old be starved before hibernation and how long should he be in the fridge?

Well, I mean the time when you deprive them of food . Is it for 2 weeks? I've been 'depriving him of food,' for one week now and I just don't want to do it for to long.

Has he shown any signs of slowing down on his own? Loss of appetite before you withheld food? More hiding and sleeping? Less activity?

Our adults slow down naturally and at the same time they start tose their interest in food. Apart from that I guess its 2 weeks but we find they know time's right for 'digging in ' and hibernation.
