So here is my basking spot setup when my torts are laying outside when its cooler out. It does the job to keep her warm and it works well. I was going to make a better setup by bending some rebar to the perfect height so it would be right over the top of her.

Well now, what I see is a multi purpose hillbilly set up...a heating devise with a built in lawn chair, now you only need to attach a piece of cut pvc as a cup holder to the lawn chair.....love it :D:D:D:D:D

Portable, practical...looks great!

If you wind up bending that rebar, I'd be interested to see your end product.

Im going to for sure, they are always laying at night when its cooler. Thought I could bend some rebar so the heat would be right on top of her and wide enough so it would not interupt her digging. Small rebar so it will go into to dirt easier

Ah, the fabulous light-attached-to-the-step-stool set up. I've done the same thing myself. Seems like they always want to nest when it turns cold. I have a lawn chair made out of metal that leaves a waffle pattern on your butt if you sit on it too long. I usually place that chair over the nesting tortoise with the heat lamp on the seat shining over the tortoise. I will sometimes (if its really cold) stand some plywood sheets around the chair too.

How many eggs did you get?

(Up here in Central California, we call that "redneck", not hillbilly!!! )
