My tortoise is constantly burrowing down. Temp is right didn't seem to be eating or very active!! Any suggestions as to what the problem could be? Thanks
That's what Russian tortoises do. But we'll still need the actual temperature. Your "temperature's right" might not be the same as what I think is 'right.'
You should. I would suggest searching the forum for the topic "soak"
I have an adult horsfield & I soak her every other day for 15 mins in a plastic storage bin I put right in her enclosure. The water should be warm but not hot. For mine I notice she eats a lot after I take her out of the soak.
My baby tortoise just didn't seem to be lively. Birdies himself down and stays there all day. My temp is just over 90 degrees under the light and around 25 degrees in the cool area. He has turtle life substrate and doesn't seem to be eating at all. I am worried please help
@davis1. How sure are you if the temperatures? Do you use a temperature gun to measure accurately? I would advise aiming aiming for 100-105F under the basking lamp.
Your tortoise is not behaving normally and should be soaked twice daily until you have him back to health.
Give a him a good twenty minute soak I warm, but not hot, water first thing in the morning and then put him under the heat lamp with fresh food close by. Rinse leafy greens in water before feeding so your tort can avoid taking water on biard!
Coukd you post a picture of your enclosre please? A picture paints a thousand words and will help us to help you
Here's my enclosure I've bathed him and he becomes extremely lovely in water but as soon as he goes back in his enclosure he burrows straight down again
