I've always kept turtles together and not a problem.

In fact, in my years of forum reading, I've never heard of any turtle getting a sick because of another because of the difference in species.

That's because when a tortoise gets sick and dies, there was no flag that jumped out and said the reason I'm dying is because you kept me with that other species tortoise. The symptoms are similar to any sickness that tortoises get, like respiratory infection, etc.

In other words, theres no way to prove that mixing species is what really caused the death.

I'm not going to get into an argument with you, Ed. My experience is with taking in many rescues. When I take in one that is sick, and question the care-givers, quite often I find that the rescued desert tortoise (for instance) has been kept with the fairly new sulcata. The story repeats so many times that I have to pay attention to it. And trying to get that sick tortoise well takes more hard work and medication that just a plain old sick tortoise.

You don't have to get into an argument with me.

In all fairness you are making a very bad assumption.

Actually... how many cases of Sulcata have you run into diagnosed with RNS or Mycoplasma? The odds are in favor of the DT passing along something to the Sulcata.

If you really wanted to back up your 'argument' you would have had both tortoises tested and then come to a conclusion... I've done it.

I can honestly say I've got as much experience... probably more dealing with import/export... There's a reason that I feel so strong about this and many other points like it.
