image.jpg image.jpg Right now my leopard is in an enclosed aquarium while he is a baby. The humidity is about 82 and the temp is anywhere from 82-90. He seems to have a hard time eating his food like he doesn't realize how far it is from his face. He seems to go to take a bite of spring mix and just misses before completely giving up and going back into his hide. I'm using a 100w zoo med basking light and a UVB reptisun. He Gets soaks in luke warm water about everyday and gets outside into the real sunlight about every other day for about an hour.

You might have an issue with your uvb light, it can damage tortoises eyes.

Is this UVB one you're recommending or discouraging?

I'm discouraging it, I would recommend a mercury vapor bulb that provides heat, uvb, and light all in one - or you can buy the uvb tubes. If you can return that light for your money back, I would do that right away.

Do you think that would help with the white puffiness around his eyes when he wakes up?
Hi and welcome - Coil bulbs can damage torts eyes and even blind them so maybe that is why he is having eye troubles.

If I were you I would put something around the bottom of the glass to block his sight so he doesn't get fixated on trying to get out. and what do you use for night heat?

He is beautiful ! If you read the care sheets Tom posted they will put you on the right track and you will have a happy healthy tort for many years. They have certainly helped me.

I use a che on thermostat and it keeps the temps even. If you do search here for the eye problems you describe you may find out if there is a cream or something you can use to help your torts eyes.

If you have any questions or need help to clarify what you have read then please ask this forum is full of great people who are only interested in keeping torts healthy and are happy to help,
