I have had him for about a year and just wanted to ask what people thought of his size. He is 1 1/2 to 2 years old. Is he really small for his age? Is the pryamiding on his shell getting better? Is it normal for there to be such sharp edges between the new growth and the pryamiding from the past? Thank for all the help.

It looks like he was pyramiding at the older growth lines but it look smoother in the newer growth. Raise the humidity up a tiny bit and it should help out a little.

He looks great. The pyramiding seems to have happened a while ago. The new growth looks smooth and the pyramiding will be less obvious as he grows. Though a little small for that age maybe? Does he get sunlight?

Thanks for the help. And yes he gets alot of sunshine. We take him about side every day and let him roam around our yard, eat our weeds, munch on our grass. He has doubled in size if not tripled in size since we got him. Is it normal for them to alway try to eat things that are not edible??

I think so. They love to explore and sniff everything they see. My sulcata does that too.

I think his size is right on track, the only humidity mine got was soaking 4 or 5 times a week, and i live in a very dry place. I don't think humidity is the problem, watersoaks and sunsoaks.

Our Sulcatas will Eat anything... Hence why we only grow what's safe; and make sure none of our dogs toys ever get shaken into an enclosure. Which is easy as Baby my toy poodle will howl until I get it lol... But before the Howl the Sulcatas would go at anything, if they saw a toy ball they'd nudge it then nibble & if they figured it out they walk away.

His pyramiding and his size for his age are very similar to my Daisy, who is now 4 years old. Looks like you are on the right track. If he follows the same pattern as my Daisy, that new growth will just keep getting better. As an adult he will look pretty good.

Thanks Tom. How big is daisy now? I know my lil guy did not have the best start to life, but i can thank everyone here on this forum for helping us learn the right was to care for him. I am so glad I found this forum and did not keep doing what the breeder told us to do. He told us to just feed him Lettuce and NOTHING about water or humidity. You guys are awesome!

I've got to weigh and measure her again. She is around a foot long now, and I'd estimate around 15 pounds. Still on the small side for her age, but not terrible.
