I have my adult RT in an open top wooden enclosure that is about 30"x 60" and the humidity seems to stay around 16-20. What can I do to get it higher and remain at the desired level?

Use substrate such as coconut coir that holds moisture. Add water every few days and stir it around. Especially under the heat source. Cover part of the enclosure. Add live plants.

The only way to keep humidity up in an open top enclosure is to add water to substrate, plant lots of plants, add a humidifier, cover the enclosure .

I currently use the coconut coir. I thought about covering some of it but don't want yo block any of the Rays from his uvb lights. I will try and keep the substrate moist but it seems to dry up very fast. I don't want to make it too moist where that will affect him.

when covering the enclosure make sure there is not plastic between the light and the tort.

Do you have a picture of your enclosure? Then maybe people can give specific ideas. every enclosure is a little different. You just cover the part and a free country that is not directly under the lights.

I assume you have decently deep substrate since they burrow, i dig holes in my substrate and pour the water in them then cover them up, it helps my humidity, i still have to do it nearly weekly but its worked well for me, i think having an open top is going to make it a continuous fight. Moss also helps in substrate to keep moisture.

Humidify the entire room or use a closed chamber.

For an adult, using damp substrate and offering a humid hide on the warm side should be sufficient.

If the enclosure is in a small room you can raise the humidity by adding a small humidifier. Walgreens or any of the box store will have them. Another option to raise humidity is to hang some wet towels in the room.
