I am not all that scientific. I just moisten the substrate. I've never checked to see what the percentage of humidity is in the habitat. If its dry, I moisten it.

Gee, I don't know...you may be better off with a potted plant than with a pot plant...I'd be afraid that the police would object to you keeping a pot plant in your tortoise enclosure.;)

Does anyone know which kind is better for keeping up humidity?

[J/K, just kidding, "Sulcata", I couldn't resist the unintentional pun you used!]:D

Good luck on finding moisture-retaining plants! And please post some photos of your Sulcata soon.:p

Personally I don't think spritzing with water or potted plants or soakings are as important as good substrate under a nice dark but warm hide. The humidity of the room is not as important as the humidity right at and below the surface of the substrate - so a humidifer probably isn't much help either. But having a baby sullie under a heat lamp all day on dry bedding is not good. Get good bedding\substrate and watch the moisture level closely and you'll be in good shape.

And your English is excellent! Thank you for understanding I was just joking.*

For substrate, I use the cypress mulch mixed with coco choir and pour water over it several times a week, then stir it up well to spread the moisture evenly.:p

"What do you call a person who speaks three languages?" "Tri-lingual."
"What do you call a person who speaks one language?" "Mono-lingual?"
"No. American."]

Chad offered good advice and so did Stephanie, you would need a medical permit for your "pot plant"...She was quick with the typing but I'm still sick so I'm slow. A 2 year old is or should be in a tort table and a 7 yr old is walking on the ground or should be, so I think first of all you need to tell us just how you keep your animals. You want to try for an ambient humidity level of 80%. So you need a substrate and I like cypress mulch for that. So can you describe to us just how you are keeping your animals?
