I cant understand that if you have the tank completely covered , holding 80 % humidity shouldn't be a problem. If it is that wet , and your tank is completely covered , it is virtually impossible for it to dry out in an hour , condensation would form on the walls and top , and drip back down into the tank !

You need a closed chamber to contain the humidity. Your open top is letting it all escape. Ambient all over the tank should be around 80% and it should be near 100% in a humid hide.

In my closed chambers the surface of the substrate is often dry with 80% humidity. Only lightly damp at worst.

I now have a closed top for mr torts tank. Its just a good but but it holds in the heat but his basking light drys everything up so fast I usually spray down his tank down 3 times to get it back up to 80% i havr plants and hides everything but it just dried up so fast and the light is not to hot stays at 90 so i domt understand

You could consider hydroballs under your substrate..

What are you using for substrate? How deep is it? Did you dampen it by dumping water into it?
