Can someone please advise me on the best way to maintain the proper level of humidity & temperature in my RT aquarium? I'm having a difficult time keeping the humidity at the ideal of 80-90%. I currently use eco-earth subtrate which is coconut coir but am still constantly having to mist the aquarium because humidity drops to 40-50%. I have a 40 gal glass aquarium & have placed a 150W powersun bulb on one side of aquarium but for some reason, temperature remains on average 80-85 degrees. Based on my research, this is not the ideal basking temperature. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Hi tinla2012:

Unless your russian tortoise is a baby in its first year of life, you don't have to worry about the humidity.

I think you would have a much easier time controlling the temperature if you had a large plastic tub instead of an aquarium.

You can fool around with partially covering or fully covering the aquarium to see if you can reach the temps you are looking for.
