I have that problem, too. Staying at home to watch my torties is one of my favorite things to do. Still, there are other things we need to do as well...

What your not getting paid? I am!! Not in money, but in hours of fascinating delight and an endless education in plants, food values, how to build enclosures and more. Then there are the interesting folks you meet. They pay me back with making me smile and making bad days suddenly seem not so bad. They get me up when life seems to want to get me down. They cause me to stop, to listen, to smell and to allow my inner child to come out and explore, showing me the wonders of this world we often as adults forget to enjoy. My family (especially my children when they were young) only see the money going out for them. They just don't see how priceless they really are, that they give me back so many things money can't buy. So yeah, my tortoises give me back the biggest paychecks.
In addition to wanting to stare at my torts all day, I use TFO as a motivation to get my chores done. Today I needed to soak Leia and Chewy, wet down their enclosures while they are soaking, clean the kitchen and pick up the toy'sall over the living room floor to earn my TFO time. Check all done Hello beautiful TFOers. I have a solid 15 minutes.
