Hi. I have had a star tortoise for 25 years. For about 3 weeks, he has not been eating well and has not pooped. Yesterday, he had a small bowel movement and a clear jelly-like substance came out. I am curious about information on this symptom.

Your tortoise may have a constipation or digestion problem.
1. Doing daily 30-minutes baths in lukewarm water can help with constipation.
2. Digestion problems can be caused by low temperatures. If you have an Indian Star, they should be kept warm, with a basking area closer 38-39C. Can you tell us more about his enclosure: lights, heating etc.

Parasites can also cause this kind of problems. If your tortoises passes more goo-like stool, you can take a sample to any vet laboratory.
