LOL well from my experience get use to it & hope it's in area where you can find her. I always had my bedroom & closet door shut when I realized I left for work what that damn sneaky tortoise was up to. I tried to explain to the turtle that its a Water turtle...you stay in the water...but I guess it just liked to explore & be under things! As long as it was happy:)
Well, luckily she stayed in a small area I found her quickly!
Hahaha, she wanted out! Maybe she was really a tortoise at heart :D

I prefer bearded dragons over skinks but they are both great, my beardy is an awesome lizard he loves being hand fed, and my son loves to feed him mealworms.

Of all of your pets, a lizard seems to be by far the one that cats will have a hard time ignoring. And that's a lot of cats. I'm happy for you and concerned.
:D I know, they are very curious cats, so I'll be watching out for them and any 'shenanigans' they might pull ... If I ever catch them trying to get the little guy, their (kinda semi:p ) trained a little, and they KNOW when they're doing something wrong!
I'm still looking, they're really hard to find! I think the breeding 'season' was up in late summer, and I missed it :(

I almost got a bearded dragon instead, but skinks are so very unusual and a little unique to find as a pet... bearded dragons seem to personal and fluffy, though! I like the 'lazier' aspect of the bigger skinks, and they are still so cuddly and friendly :D!

They are very smooth looking. Big, blocky scales... and with the tongue you could say they are a lot like a snake. Smooth. Very little legs. Except the diet is waaayyyy better :D
Have you ever had a lizard?

I was planning on getting a little baby in the upcoming winter months, when yard maintenance has gone down (no weeding and shoveling turds) and then I'd get to have 'all to myself' for a few months before it's time to let the torts out again and start doing stuff with the yard... but I'm having a real issue finding a baby right now! :( And I want a baby. If I'm getting this guy, I want to watch him grow u and be with him for longer (and with an adult, he/she might not have been raised the way I want to do so!)
But I promise, pics when I get him! (herlol)

How did I miss this? I've had a blue tongued skink for 15 years now! I agree, I like them much better than beardies. Uro's are my other favorite lizards, along with good old leopard geckos. Good luck finding your baby!

Thank you! Do you remember where you got your guy? Small ones are really few and far between! (doesn't help that I' pretty sure I'm missed 'the season' to get one)

Try those forums. They are great and there are some good breeders on there. Mine was not from a breeder unfortunately. Back then I was a stay at home mom and was bored so I got a part time job at our pet store. He was there and used to hang out with me while I worked. No one was buying him so of course he eventually came home with me. He was a full grown adult then so I have no idea how old he is now, just that he's old!
