I really don't think so, Raeann. The picture that shows the embryo tells me that the baby is still an embryo, and no where near old enough to be a baby turtle. If it is cracking it's because of the gasses that dead bodies make.

But all this is just speculation. No one can really tell without seeing the egg in person.

But, if it were a baby turtle in there the whole egg would be black so you couldn't see inside the egg.

RE: What happening ?

It's hard to tell by the pictures, but I think the egg is bad.

What happening ?

Google hatchling turtle care and read care sheets, and multiple one until the egg hatches ;) best way to prepaid is study!

RE: I need help

After an egg hatches, which usually is a two day affair just getting out of the egg, I leave hatchlings in the incubator separate from any eggs for two or three days until the yolk is fully absorbed. Then usually into a ten gallon aquarium on moist substrate. It's not unusual for them to not eat for a few weeks.

It will take about 24-48 hours to fully hatch. Once I see one start to hatch I put another container in the incubator with a damp paper towel on the bottom. When it is fully hatched I put the baby on the paper towel for another 2-3 days. I then transfer it to a 10 gallon tank that has very moist forest floor substrate. Use a low heat light but has UVB. Remember in the wild they spend the first few months on the forest floor buried under the substrate. Good luck. Send pictures. View attachment 44068View attachment 44069View attachment 44070

Hi Raeann:

I'm pretty sure your egg is no good. The reason it cracked is because the dead embryo rots, causing gasses to build up and putting pressure on the egg. It has to crack to let the gasses out.

(Just a note ... there's is no reason to continue to make many, many threads on the same egg problem. We all read most of the threads, and we will see your post when you add it to one of your egg threads already on the Forum. I've been merging them all together so all the info is in one spot)

We have offered you lots of help and information. It seems like you choose to not listen to it.

shellfreak and yagyujubei both told you how to care for a baby. I told you I thought the egg was bad (no sense in caring for a bad egg). I don't know what else we could have told you.

I asked you before how you were caring for the egg for the 57 days you told us about and you didn't answer.

Yes, you certainly can. And I can keep merging them all together so more members will read and give you advice.

Here is a good site for breeding box turtles and raising babies. I suggest you do some research before you get any more eggs:

Anybody:

Raeann is 14 and obviously she and I aren't communicating. Is there anyone else on here who can give her what she's asking for?
