Is salt dangerous to spur thighs?

Worthing
I have 7 spur thighs wandering about my garden so obviously I don't use any weedkiller. I would normally use salt during the winter period to prevent weeds in paths etc. It will wash into the soil over the season before they come back out from hibernation.
Having moved to a new home/garden there is a lot of garden clearing to do.
Is salt a problem for tortoises? Could I salt the paths? Would the salt be a dangerous for them?

Rock salt can be very dangerous. I don't think that much salt is going to be good for any animal, that's why it kills weeds, it's not safe in big amounts.

I wouldn't use it while they are going into the garden
Over winter where it can get washed away several times before the tortoises are put back should be okay.

I don't know, but I wouldn't chance it.
See what @Yvonne G and @Tom and @Markw84 and @zovick have to say.
Sorry, but I am afraid I don't know anything about tortoises and salt.

I will say that I have never seen a tortoise lick anything, though. If they want to sample something, they may or may not smell it first or they just immediately try to eat it in my experience
