Hi everyone, I'm thinking of getting a tort soon. Is this enclosure ok for a western hermann? Not sure with it being enclosed instead of open at the top.

The design is good and it should work well for maintaining warmth and humidity, but it is far too small for anything but a tiny hatchling. You'd need four of those to house an adult, and even that would be small.

What size enclosure is needed for a western hermann? I know they are tiny torts, but I know that doesn't mean they need a small enclosure

4x8 feet is the minimum. If you are housing a single adult male of one of the smaller Western varieties, 6x3 feet would be adequate. I like this species in groups as juveniles and as adults. Care must be taken to ensure adult males have enough space to get away from each other, and they will sometimes have to be separated anyway.

Their outdoor enclosures should be larger if possible.

4x8 for both. 6x3 for a male Western of one of the smaller varieties.
Thanks for the info. I'm going to be getting a baby western. How long could one live in the enclosure I linked before needing an upgrade?

This depends on the growth rate, but possibly 6-12 months if you are getting a new hatchling. Its already too small if you are getting a year old baby that is over 100 grams. 2x4 feet is a good starter size.
