Hello all. Some advice please on substrate for adult sulcata tortoise housed outside in heated shed. I tried orchid bark. It was good but didn't retain the moisture as well as I'd hoped. I see a number of recommendations for cypress mulch on Tortoise Forum. Here in the UK, I can find cypress mulch in reptiles stores but is is generally about £10-15 per 10litres. In our hardware store (B&Q) they are selling woodchip mulch 100litres for under £10. Much more cost effective if it is suitable. This is the link:
I'll attach a photo as well in case the link doesn't work.
I have no idea if this woodchip mulch is from cypress or not. Could it cause harm? Should I go back to orchid bark.
Advice very much appreciated.
