I know this is against everything some experts disagree with...I have had the same Stanfield mat with the controller for abt 13 years...it's gone thru several larger Sulcata...Every one of my larger Sulcata used this sleeping box and mat...peed on it, pooped on it and whatever else. Mary K sleeps on the mat all night, but she basks under a 65 watt incandescent bulb or a CHE...

as you can see the tortoise can get off of the mat if he wants to move, and stay in the box...

I've had a Kane mat for as long as I have had Tank. About 11 years now. He is hard on that thing and still works just fine!

Same issue as the reptile store ones. Babies of some species dig down to get away from heat.

Osborne industries make and sell Stanfield heat mats. I buy directly from them.
I just ordered a 2x3 ft Stanfield mat. It's not for a tortoise, it's for something that may get here by the first week of December. If it does I'll post about it then.
